The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Public Affairs Unit of the State Ministry of Transportation (MOT) had on Friday announced the closing down of the Marine Bridge, partially between 8.00p.m and 8.00a.m daily from March 28 to Aug. 15 for repair. The statement said that the closure would allow the construction works by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to replace the worn-out Elastomeric Bearing, and Expand the Metallic joints on the bridge. It said that the repair works, meant to take duration of 20 weeks, would be done in two phases of 10 weeks each to ease traffic movements. Announcing suspension of the bridge closure on Saturday in a statement, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, the State Commissioner for Transportation, said that the repair work would be suspended until further notice Oladeinde said that the decision was based on the focus of the state to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic. Nigerian Presidency on Saturday refuted a report that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the distribution of N30,000 each to every Nigerian with Bank Verification Number (BVN). Media reports claimed that presidential spokesman Femi Adesina disclosed the approval to their correspondent. “The President announced the relief package to be given out N30,000 to every Nigerian who has a verified BVN account to ease pressure posed by the order to lockdown economic activities,” the reports said quoting Adesina.

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has alleged that Abba Kyari has “scampered” to Cuba for Coronavirus treatment. You all must have heard the news that one of the celebrities that attended the AMVCA 2020 has been tested positive for coronavirus. In case you don’t know, well now you know because the Lagos state government has advised everyone that attended the event to self-quarantine for 14-days. However, we noticed the event was more like a fashion show than a movie award show with the way different celebrities styled themselves to the event. One out of many dressings that caught people’s attention was that of BBNaija housemate, Omashola’s 😂 He legit dressed like a Chinese doctor who ran away from isolation center to attend a movie-award event 😂 Many Nigerians on social media are now of the opinion that Omashola is the only safe person at the AMVCA just because of the way he dressed. A suspected case of coronavirus is currently being monitoring in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The State Commissioner for Health,  Bashir Bello, a medical doctor said that a man, in his 50s, who arrived Bodija area of Ibadan from the United Kingdom, has been isolated for the past four days. According to him, the UK returnee living in Ibadan had a temperature spike of 37.9 celsius and his blood sample was subsequently taken to Lagos COVID-19 testing facility of (NCDC). Bello said  the suspect’s blood sample has been sent to the disease control centre in Lagos, adding that the result is expected on Friday The commissioner revealed that the suspect’s neighbours alerted the government about his condition, which prompted a quick intervention, adding that the case was being monitored. While recalling that  two other cases had earlier been reported in the state, with their test results turning out negative said the person is on isolation and blood sample has been collected. “...

The Federal Ministry of Education has ordered immediate closure of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools nationwide following the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country and as part of measures to contain the spread. This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono. According to a communique on Thursday, Echono who gave the order on behalf of the Education Minister, Adamu Adamu, also noted that all 104 Unity Schools in the country should close on or before the 26th of March, 2020 as a proactive step aimed at preventing the spread of the dreaded Corona virus. We have directed all higher institutions to close this weekend. Unity Schools that have completed their exams are to close immediately.
